World 24hr Running Championships

Bergamo, Italy, 2-3rd May 09

If you love your sport, there can be no finer moment that toeing the start line, against the best nations in the World, wearing the Union Jack on your vest. 24Hr running is not fun and in any race of that length there are going to be moments of misery and dispair, but I was so proud to be there and to be the highest scoring British athlete. It was the only ultra, when as soon as I had finished, I was looking forward to the next one. I suffered from heat stroke and didn't achieve the distance that I was hoping for, but I finished feeling elatated and emotional. The organisation and atmosphere were suberb.
